Overview

The Bishkek to Osh route via the Torugart Pass and Pamir Highway is one of the great overland journeys on earth — ten days crossing the full width of Kyrgyzstan through increasingly remote and dramatic terrain. The route follows ancient Silk Road corridors through landscapes that feel utterly untouched.

Starting with Son-Kul and the Tash-Rabat caravanserai (a 15th-century Silk Road waystation), the route crosses the At-Bashi pass before entering the extraordinary Torugart region — 4,000m+ passes within sight of the Chinese border. The descent through the Fergana Valley approach and arrival in Osh, Kyrgyzstan's oldest city, completes a journey that few travellers make in full.

The road conditions are serious and an expedition-grade 4WD is essential. This is classified RARE — maximum eight passengers, and only available June through September.
