Issyk-Kul Coastal 5-Day Horse Ride

STANDARD
Duration 5 days
Difficulty Moderate
Max Altitude 2,500 m
Season June – Sep
Group Size 2–8
Starts Karakol

Overview

The Issyk-Kul south shore is among the most scenic riding territory in Kyrgyzstan. This five-day coastal route follows the lakeshore from Karakol past the red sandstone formations of Jeti-Oguz, the famous Barskoon waterfall, and along wild stretches of beach where the Tian Shan mountains drop directly into the water.

The riding is moderate — suitable for riders with some previous experience, though the pace is relaxed and the terrain largely flat or gently rolling. Wild camps directly on the lakeshore give you evenings with Issyk-Kul's extraordinary light and the mountains as your backdrop.

Itinerary

Short drive to starting point. Meet horses. First ride along the lakeshore toward Barskoon waterfall. Lakeside camp.

Rest the horses. Full day exploring on foot — the red canyons are even more dramatic up close. Wildflower meadow lunch.
