Kol-Ukok Wilderness Trek

Kol-Ukok is one of the least-visited alpine lakes in Kyrgyzstan — a turquoise body of water at 3,518m, reached after three days of trekking through valleys that see almost no tourist traffic. This is genuine wilderness travel.

The route begins with a long drive southwest to Kyzart village, then climbs steadily through increasingly remote terrain. Phone signal disappears after the first camp. Wildlife is abundant: marmots, eagles, and if you are fortunate, Marco Polo sheep on the high ridgelines. The lake itself is extraordinary — a vivid turquoise set against bare rock walls — and an exploration day gives you time to sit with it properly.

Maximum group size is 6. The small numbers are deliberate — this is not a tour that works at scale.
